Q: What is a release number, and do I need to have one?
A: A release number is an identification number for your product. This number is useful in the manufacturing process to keep track of all the different parts of your project and is printed on all CDs, covers and sleeves. Additionally, retail stores keep track of their inventory using release numbers. Also called a catalog number or a matrix number, a release number is generally comprised of a combination of up to seven letters or numbers, of your choice, and is the main way record stores will keep track of your CD once it is released. If you do not choose a release number yourself, In Record Time, Inc. will assign one to you.

Q: What is a resale certificate and why is it a good idea to have one?
A: A resale certificate is issued by the state to exempt businesses who resell their merchandise to retailers and distributors, from paying taxes for manufacturing. If you take delivery of your product in New York, and you do not have a resale certificate, you are required to pay sales tax on the product. Q: Why do you have a policy of shipping up to 10% over or short?
A: Because of our high quality control standards, we tend to manufacture extra units to account for any possible rejects. Depending on the number of rejects, there may be extra units produced. If for any reason we are short, you will not be responsible for paying for the missing units. If we are over, you will be responsible for paying for the extra units.
